A Space of Radical Hospitality
What is radical hospitality? Invested in offering a place of safety, Andrea-Marie embraces a philosophy for therapy which is inclusive and inviting of curious and courageous introspection. The healing space offered in this practice is inclusive of somatic work and the wisdom of feminine intuition, all within a safe and mindful container.
Ron Kurtz (1990), concerning Hakomi somatic psychotherapy asserts that using mindful awareness “in therapy is the highest skill” as it invites deeper self-awareness. Hakomi creates a stunningly safe and connective container allowing a graceful unfolding of core material, life issues.
Marion Woodman reminds us that the feminine principle attempts to relate. Instead of breaking things off into parts, it says, where are we alike? This approach diminishes potential power distances and replaces them with open, nurturing, and non-judgmental spaces for the unfolding of shadow work and the continuity of individuation.
With intuition, a therapist tracks on a subtle level, listening to the spaces un-trackable through ordinary senses and trusting the salience of the information arising from non-ordinary sources. Armed with information from non-ordinary sources we may provide a profound sense of belonging and disassemble destructive patterns of thought and feeling while infusing the therapeutic space with a missing experience of regard and connectivity.
